Manufacturing Automotive Mechanic

Job Title: Automotive Mechanic / Auto Technician – Romeo, MI (Contract, $19–$29/hr)

Location: Romeo, MI (near Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Macomb, Rochester)

Pay: $19 – $29 per hour (based on experience: Mechanic I, Mechanic II, Senior Mechanic)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (overtime and some weekends may be required)

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Automotive Mechanics / Auto Technicians to join our vehicle development and testing team in Romeo, MI. This is a hands-on role working on cars, trucks, and prototype vehicles . You’ll be doing real mechanical work every day — not just inspections — and will play a key part in supporting pre-production vehicle testing.

What You’ll Do

• Repair, maintain, and modify cars, trucks, and prototype vehicles
• Work on brakes, suspension, engines, electrical, and diagnostics
• Follow repair orders and verbal instructions to complete work accurately
• Keep repair records and parts lists updated
• Perform regular inspections and report problems
• Keep tools and shop equipment in safe, working order
• Help with shop organization and cleanliness

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic / Auto Technician
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repairs
• Experience working with cars or trucks (prototype experience a plus, but not required)
• Must have your own tools and rolling toolbox
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
