JOB TITLE:
Patient Account Representative
JOB PURPOSE:
Serve as primary point of contact for patients. Provide exceptional customer service in response to high volume of incoming calls regarding account status. Determine compliance with departmental policies and procedures and the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA) and HIPAA regulations. Position is located in the UW Family Medicine Clinic in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide customer service to all patients and answer questions regarding medial accounts.
Explain insurance benefits to patients regarding Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and balances.
Collect updated insurance information from patients and notify billing specialist of changes.
Assist patients with terms for repayment structures by setting up payment plans.
Generate statements for patients.
Review rejected statements containing invalid information. Update said information and resubmit.
Review delinquent accounts and submit to collection agency.
Enter qualifying accounts into Medicare Bad Debt spreadsheet.
Contact patients to inform of overdue balances.
Serve as back up for front desk.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.
Attend and participate in training and other personal professional development activity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Experience: 1-2 years customer service experience in healthcare setting
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven experience using a Practice Management System and/or managing Accounts Receivable functions
Progressive experience in a medical office setting, including daily account reconciliation and posting patient payments
Prior experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Rural Health Clinic (RHC)
Proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) and/or experience developing data dashboards
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail

WORK LOCATION:
This position provides vital support to clinic patients, and the successful candidate must be available to work on site at the clinic in Cheyenne, WY.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship for H-1B work authorization or work visa is not available for this position.
