Caregiver for Afternoons

Location: Rochester Hills, Michigan
Pay: 15.20- 16.20 per hour, Paid Weekly

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable caregiver to assist a 20-year-old male with Fragile X Syndrome and autism in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The individual is currently working on developing socialization skills in the community, improving money management, and enhancing his cooking skills. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact while supporting an individual’s independence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with socializing and practicing communication skills in the community (e.g., outings to stores, restaurants, parks).

• Support with money management tasks, including budgeting, shopping, and handling transactions.

• Aid in meal preparation and cooking, helping to develop cooking skills and ensure safety in the kitchen.

• Encourage and model appropriate social behaviors, offering guidance in interactions with others.

• Create a supportive, positive, and patient environment to foster personal development and confidence.

• Work with the individual to set and achieve personal goals related to independence and daily living skills.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older, with a genuine interest in working with individuals with special needs.

• Experience with autism or developmental disabilities (Fragile X Syndrome experience a plus, but not required).

• Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to provide clear guidance.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Reliable transportation and availability for afternoon hours, ideally between 4pm - 8pm, Monday through Friday.

• Ability to undergo paid training and background checks to ensure the safety and well-being of the individual.
