Automotive IATF 16949 Quality Compliance Auditor
Job Description
Job Description
About the Role
Picture your day starting on the machining floor—CNC cells humming, fixtures set, and operators at work. You move from line to line, reviewing control plans and work instructions, sampling parts with calipers and micrometers, and checking results against drawings and GD&T. By midday, you’re deep into a system audit against IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, tracing documentation, verifying calibration records, and confirming that inspection plans are being followed. In the afternoon, you’re closing the loop: documenting findings, driving corrective actions, and collaborating with Quality Engineering and Production to prevent recurrence. That’s a typical day for our Automotive IATF 16949 Quality Compliance Auditor.
We are hiring two auditors—one assigned to day shift and one to night shift—to safeguard product integrity and process consistency in a precision machining environment.
What You’ll Accomplish- Plan and execute internal audits of processes, products, and the quality management system aligned to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct process, product, and system assessments—including layered and compliance audits—on the manufacturing floor and in supporting functions.
- Participate in, or provide support for, customer, supplier, and third‑party audits.
- Verify adherence to control plans, standard work, work instructions, SOPs, and inspection plans.
- Capture nonconformances, write clear audit reports, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure; validate effectiveness of actions taken.
- Maintain complete and accurate audit files, records, and reports; ensure calibration and inspection records remain current and traceable.
- Audit machining operations—CNC setups, tooling, fixturing, and measurement approaches—for capability and compliance.
- Evaluate inspection methods for GD&T, first article inspections (FAI), in‑process checks, and final inspection acceptance criteria.
- Support root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and PFMEA reviews.
- Identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities to reduce scrap, increase process capability, and prevent defects.
Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, and Supply Chain partners—all aligned on delivering right‑first‑time product to our automotive customers.
What You Bring- 2+ years in quality auditing or quality assurance within manufacturing.
- Hands-on background in precision machining and/or automotive production environments.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and core automotive quality tools.
- Fluency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and established inspection practices.
- Proficiency with measurement equipment: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and quality management systems (QMS).
Your audits drive the insights that keep our processes stable, our customers confident, and our teams continuously improving.
