Schedule: Part Time | rotating 16 and 24 hours per week, 40 hours per pay period | 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Department: Environmental Services | Cedars of Dexter | Dexter, MI
Be a key part of keeping our community safe, secure, and running smoothly. As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll help maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in top condition. From routine upkeep to addressing repair needs, your work supports a clean, functional, and secure environment for everyone on site. You’ll play an essential role in upholding regulatory standards and facility policies while making a visible, everyday impact through hands-on work and problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work, as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
- Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Perform occasional maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, removing snow, and salting, as necessary/directed.
Safety and Compliance
- Perform routine safety checks of door lock systems, water temperatures, etc., as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
- Assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up before performing floor cleaning duties and removed/stored in a timely fashion after the floor is dry.
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean/polish furnishings, floors, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident cottages/apartments, clubhouse/common areas, offices, etc.
- Clean and sanitize vacant cottages/apartments as assigned.
Event and Setup Support
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for indoor or outdoor functions as directed.
Housekeeping and Backup Support
- Provide occasional backup support for housekeeping duties.

- Experience in a Maintenance Tech position.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance.
