$25–$28/hour
Schedule : Monday–Friday; Morning Pickup & Afternoon Drop-off
Duration : September – June

Faxon Academy is seeking a responsible and dependable part-time School Bus Driver to safely transport elementary school students to and from school and school-related activities. This role requires a professional who can maintain order, follow strict safety standards, and build respectful relationships with students.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus on designated routes and schedules

• Oversee student boarding, seating, and unloading; assist with special needs students when necessary

• Monitor student behavior and report incidents to supervisors

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections

• Maintain daily logs and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff

• Respond to emergencies and administer first aid when needed

• Attend mandatory training sessions and safety workshops

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

• Valid Michigan CDL Class B license with:

  • School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements

  • Air brake qualification (if applicable)

• Meets Michigan Dept. of Education school bus driver requirements

• Completion of Beginning School Bus Driver Safety Course within 60 days of hire

• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience

• Experience transporting school-aged children or working in a school setting

• Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance

• Clean driving record

• Successful background check, fingerprinting, annual physical, and drug screening

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

• Must respond quickly to emergencies and sustain high energy throughout the day

• Good hearing and vision to monitor surroundings

• Frequent bending, transitioning from seated to standing positions as needed
