Kitchen Assistant Manager
Summary:
Goodrich Area Schools is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant Manager to join our kitchen team. This role is essential in ensuring food preparation runs smoothly by coordinating basic cooking tasks, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and following food safety guidelines. Ideal candidates are team players with a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Supervisory ability.
- Knowledge of record keeping
- Servsafe Certificate
- Wear uniform while on duty.
- Experience in cooking or knowledge of cooking preferred.
- Willing to try new recipes, ideas, etc.
- Able to enforce sanitary guidelines.
- Knowledge of computerized point of sale.
- Dependable, friendly, and courteous.
- Be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Must take classes that pertain to this position (i.e. ServSafe).
- Work daily in assigned school and position as assigned by FSD.
- Must be able to make up special orders on demand or for various activities, sometimes on short notice. Be very flexible.
- Must be able to take over Manager Position on immediate notice. This includes running and closing the POS system, managing the kitchen and staff, and assist where needed. Must know how to do all positions within the kitchen. Training will be provided if needed.
- Must be able to alternate duties with manager on daily basis.
- Plans and organizes the work necessary to serve school meals.
- Assists in the preparation of food.
- Prepares and serves food using proper portions in accordance with USDA regulations
- Works rapidly and efficiently in performing asks.
- Applies and maintains high standards of sanitation and personal hygiene.
- Operates and cleans all kitchen equipment established in the cafeteria.
- Stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions and assists in taking inventories.
- Assist in collecting, tallying and depositing daily receipts.
- Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Maintains proper food safety in compliance with local health department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Exerts moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying items and objects weighing up to (35-40) pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, climb, push/pull and use motor skills necessary to perform the essential duties needed in the assignment of responsibility.
- Stands and walks on hard flooring for long periods of time.
- Works around a wide range of temperatures
- Works with chemical cleaning agents.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed at Goodrich Middle School and may include other facilities of the district. The hours for this position are 6:30 am – 1:30 pm on student days. There is limited exposure to physical risk.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is hired through GECS.
