Group Manager, PMO Management Information & Insights

General Motors
Warren, MI
**Job Description** **Group Manager, PMO Management Information & Insights** **Hybrid:** This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical/Innovation Center in Warren (MI), Austin (TX), or Mountain View (CA) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at any of these locations. **The Role** We're seeking a strategic yet hands-on leader to define and deliver the future of Management Information (MI), reporting, and insights across the PMO. This role sits at the intersection of data strategy, storytelling, and portfolio execution - enabling senior leadership to make faster, smarter decisions through high-quality, actionable insights. You will lead a small but high-performing team responsible for establishing the MI strategy, building scalable data products (dashboards, reports, and analytics pipelines), and ensuring that information is consistent, trusted, and decision-ready. This is a player-coach role: you'll both set the long-term strategy and personally build and deliver high-impact dashboards and narratives that connect data to business outcomes. **Why This Role Matters** GM's vehicle portfolio is evolving faster than ever and demand sharper insight and tighter alignment across the enterprise. This role defines how we measure what matters - turning data into the connective tissue between strategy, capacity, and execution. **What You'll Do** + Define the Management Information & Reporting Strategy: Establish the long-term vision, principles, and architecture for how management information, reporting, and dashboards support portfolio and capacity decision-making. + Be a player-coach: Lead and mentor a small team (~3-5 analysts/BI developers) while remaining deeply hands-on in shaping data models, dashboard designs, and executive-level storytelling. + Build decision-grade data products: Design, prototype, and deliver dashboards and reports that serve as the single source of truth for program health, capacity, and delivery performance. + Drive integration and automation: Partner with data engineering and IT to integrate data from Jira, Anaplan, and enterprise systems - ensuring seamless, real-time visibility across the PMO. + Elevate how insights are communicated: Transform complex data into simple, compelling stories that drive alignment and action at the leadership level. + Standardize and scale: Create frameworks for KPI definition, governance, and dashboard lifecycle management, ensuring consistency across teams and tools. + Foster a data-driven culture: Promote insight fluency across the PMO, helping teams move from reporting to truly understanding what the data means and how to act on it. **Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)** + Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field + 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or management reporting roles + 5+ years of experience with Jira and Power BI + 3+ years of management experience + Proven ability to define strategy and execute as both leader and individual contributor + Demonstrated experience building dashboards and reporting using modern BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) and managing data pipelines + Strong ability to connect metrics to business context - translating operational data into executive-level insights + Excellent communication, visualization, and data storytelling skills + Experience leading small, high-performing teams, including setting priorities and coaching for growth + Collaborative and influential across technical, product, and business stakeholders **What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)** + MBA or advanced degree in a business or quantitative discipline + Background in tech, product, or engineering environments with a focus on scaling data-driven decision frameworks + Knowledge of SQL or lightweight data modeling for analysis and prototyping + Familiarity with Agile, Lean, or OKR-based portfolio management frameworks + Demonstrated ability to transform ambiguous business needs into structured, insightful reporting systems **Compensation:** The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative of positions located outside of the California Bay Area. + The salary range for this role is $143,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. + Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance. **Benefits:** GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more. **Company Vehicle:** Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc.).
