- Review loan documentation, disclosures, and supporting materials to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Maintain and apply expertise in automated underwriting systems (DU, LP, GUS)
- Identify and escalate potential fraud or discrepancies during the underwriting review
- Serve as a resource for internal teams, offering guidance on scenarios and resolving escalated issues
- Provide training and mentorship to new and existing underwriters
- Collaborate with processors, loan officers, and closers to meet SLAs and closing timelines
- Manage assigned loan pipeline efficiently to meet production goals
- Maintain compliance with TRID, ECOA, HMDA, and other applicable regulations
- Support quality control efforts and respond to audit and post-closing findings
What You Bring:
- Minimum 10 years of mortgage underwriting experience, including government and conventional loan products and state bond programs
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in finance or business preferred
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage processing, closing, and investor guidelines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and mortgage loan origination systems
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience in training and mentoring other team members
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
