Controls Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support industrial control systems from concept through startup and commissioning. This role is responsible for creating control system designs based on written sequences of operation, developing electrical and fluid power schematics, programming PLCs and HMIs, and providing technical support during installation and startup activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop pneumatic piping diagrams.
- Design and develop hydraulic piping diagrams.
- Create and maintain electrical wiring schematics.
- Design electrical control panels and associated control systems.
- Develop and program PLC software.
- Develop and program Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
- Perform system tryout, debugging, commissioning, and startup support.
- Provide technical support during equipment installation and integration.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of control system issues.
- Support the training of plant personnel on controls systems and equipment.
- Travel to customer and plant locations as required to support project execution.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Experience
- 5-7 years of controls engineering experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or automation environment.
- Experience designing and implementing control systems from concept through commissioning.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with PLC hardware and software programming.
- Experience with HMI development and configuration.
- Proficiency with servo drive hardware and software applications.
- Strong AutoCAD skills.
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems and standards.
- Knowledge of machine safety principles and applicable safety standards.
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing automated equipment and control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting equipment startup and commissioning activities.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead projects when required.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring technical teams is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel to customer and plant sites as needed to support installation, commissioning, and production startup activities.
