RNFA Job Details – Kalamazoo, MI
- Location: Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel contract (September 8, 2025 – December 8, 2025)
- Setting: Operating Room (OR) – Cardiac, General, Ortho, Vascular, Gyn, Thoracic, Same Day Surgery
- Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 40 hours/week
- Call Requirement: 12-18 days/month
- Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $3120 - $3200
- Active Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) or Surgical First Assistant (STFA) certification
- Current Michigan RN license (required for Michigan nursing jobs)
- Minimum 1 year of RNFA experience (5 years preferred)
- CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
- Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
- Previous travel RNFA or travel nurse experience preferred
- Experience in a Trauma Level I OR setting required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Experience with Epic EMR charting system
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions considered)
- Provide first assist support in a wide range of surgical cases: cardiac, orthopedic, vascular, gynecological, thoracic, and general surgeries
- Perform endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting for cardiac procedures
- Float to provide general department First Assistant coverage as needed
- Participate in call rotation and weekend coverage as scheduled
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure patient safety throughout all procedures
- Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR system
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical teams to deliver high-quality clinical support and patient care
