Job Description

CHEP is looking for a motivated Sorter to join our Livonia Service Center's 2nd shift, working Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm. If you have 2+ years' experience working with industrial machinery, have strong work ethic, and are capable of lifting 77-lbs throughout the day, a Sorter position with CHEP could be a great fit!

  • $18/hr, plus $.50/hr differential when working 2nd shift

  • 2nd shift - Monday-Friday, 3pm-11:30pm

Position Purpose

The Sorter position is responsible for sorting pallets by hand for grading by hand as they flow from the loading dock, production line and throughout the facility. May leverage tools or machine to lift or remove debris.

Major/Key Accountabilities

Pallet Sorting:

  • Sort pallets as they are moved from loading docks to sort line/area.

  • Removes debris and trash from pallets.

  • Determines which pallets may require repairs.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.

  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment daily.

  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an industrial, fast paced environment with industrial equipment.

  • Ability to complete task within a timely manner with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to understand and communicate information is essential.

Experience

  • 2+ years previous experience working in an industrial, fast-moving setting with industrial machinery

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry 77 lbs at least 33% of their work shift.

  • Push items with a maximum force of 31 lbs./feet.

  • Pull items with a maximum force of 31 lbs./feet

Working Conditions

  • The role involves working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

  • Work requires standing for long periods of time.

  • Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures may occur.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
