Customer Service/Dispatcher
DISPATCHER Midwest Food Equipment Service — Grandville, Michigan Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM | Starting at $24/hr
ABOUT US
Founded in 1970, Midwest Food Equipment Service is a family-owned commercial kitchen equipment company with over 50 years in the food service industry and more than 200 years of combined certified technician experience on our team. We provide service, parts, and installation solutions for commercial cooking equipment across all of Michigan — from Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo and everywhere in between. Our customers include restaurants, schools, hospitals, and commercial kitchens of all kinds. When their equipment goes down, we are who they call. We are a CFESA-certified service company and an authorized warranty provider for over 100 major manufacturers.
We are a close-knit team that takes pride in doing things right, treating people well, and building real long-term relationships, with our customers, our vendors, and each other.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Dispatcher to join our office team and serve as the operational hub between our customers and our field technicians. On any given day you will be coordinating service calls across Michigan, guiding technicians to the right places at the right times, and making sure our customers know someone is on the way and on top of it. This is a role for someone who stays calm when things are moving fast, thinks on their feet, and genuinely enjoys managing a lot of moving pieces at once.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Dispatch and coordinate a team of field technicians across Michigan using company scheduling software
- Use Google Maps to plan routes, estimate drive times, and sequence calls efficiently throughout the day
- Create and manage service orders received by phone and email
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both customers and technicians throughout the day
- Provide technicians with the job information they need to complete calls successfully
- Monitor the schedule in real time and adjust as the day changes
- Maintain accurate records and process documentation
- Support the broader office team as needed
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
- Clear, professional communication — you will be talking to customers and team members throughout the day
- Comfortable with technology — Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Google Maps, and willing to learn our dispatch software
- Solid basic math skills and comfort with times, distances, and scheduling logic
- Calm and solutions-oriented when things get busy or plans change quickly
- Reliable, accountable, and genuinely willing to learn
Experience in dispatching, logistics, customer service, transportation coordination, or any role that required managing multiple people or priorities at once is a strong plus. That said, if you are organized, sharp, and eager to learn — we are willing to train the right person.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Starting pay: $24.00 per hour
- Guaranteed minimum 3% annual raise — every employee, every year
- Clear opportunities and growth projections
- Performance-based raises on top of that, reviewed quarterly
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
- Occasional overtime as needed
- Direct deposit
- 401k plan after 60 days
- Health insurance options
- Bonuses and incentives throughout the year
- A family-owned company where you are known by name, not a number
