Landscape Construction and Irrigation Sales Manager
The Landscape Construction and Irrigation Sales Manager oversees the design, estimating, and sales process for commercial and high-end residential landscape and irrigation projects. This role leads a team of designers and estimators to deliver accurate, creative, and competitive proposals that align with company standards and client expectations. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with technical knowledge of landscape construction, irrigation systems, and project management to drive profitable growth and ensure outstanding customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities of a Landscape Construction and Irrigation Sales Manager:
Leadership & Supervision
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of landscape designers and estimators.
Sales & Business Development
- Oversee the full sales cycle — from initial inquiry through proposal presentation, negotiation, and closing.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with builders, developers, property managers, and general contractors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in landscape construction and irrigation.
- Meet or exceed annual sales and revenue goals.
Design & Estimation Oversight
- Ensure all designs meet client specifications, local codes, and company standards.
- Review estimates for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with production capabilities.
- Provide value engineering recommendations to balance design quality with budget requirements.
- Review and approve designs, takeoffs, and cost estimates to ensure accuracy and profitability.
Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients throughout the bidding and pre-construction phases.
- Handle escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth project transitions post-sale.
Procurement & Coordination
- Oversee material sourcing and vendor negotiations to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with purchasing and operations to confirm material availability and quality.
- Support project start-up by ensuring materials, designs, and estimates are properly aligned.
- Coordinate workloads and deadlines to ensure timely completion of bids and proposals.
Qualifications for a Landscape Construction and Irrigation Sales Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in landscape construction sales, design, or estimating, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of commercial landscape construction methods, irrigation systems, and plant materials.
- Proficiency in estimating software and design tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing complex projects.
