Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Allied Health)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures. Operating under general supervision, you will be responsible for all technical aspects of patient exams, including preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating advanced scanning equipment, and maintaining strict radiation safety standards.
The ideal candidate blends strong technical competence with an empathetic patient approach, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Imaging: Specialize in performing comprehensive nuclear medicine imaging studies to capture precise diagnostic data as requested by ordering physicians.
- Patient Care & History: Review patient charts, obtain accurate clinical histories, explain procedures clearly, and address patient concerns to minimize anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Radiopharmaceutical Handling: Measure, prepare, safely handle, and administer prescribed concentrations of radioactive isotopes and related diagnostic substances within the technologist's scope of practice.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, and maintain all assigned nuclear scanning equipment. Perform routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic quality control and functionality checks.
- Radiation Safety & Compliance: Execute rigorous quality assurance practices and enforce radiation safety protocols (ALARA) to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self. Maintain full compliance with the Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Documentation & Logistics: Maintain precise clinical documentation, logs, and charts in both paper and electronic formats. Monitor and manage inventories of consumables to ensure uninterrupted testing capabilities.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:
Education, Licensure & Credentials:
- Professional Registration: Active registration in Nuclear Medicine with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT ) OR the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board ( NMTCB ) [Required at time of application] .
- Life Support: Active Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross [Required] .
Experience & Skills:
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of current, active experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist [Required] .
- Adaptability: Strong independent working skills with the flexibility to occasionally assist in other diagnostic radiology sub-departments as directed.
- Skills Checklist: A specialty-specific clinical skills checklist completed within the last 12 months is highly preferred.
