Position Summary

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our neurosurgical team. You’ll play a key role supporting both clinical and administrative operations in a fast-paced surgical practice—ensuring exceptional patient care and seamless coordination across multiple sites.
This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel 2–3 times per month to satellite offices or surgical centers.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Support

• Prepare patients for exams and assist the neurosurgeon during office procedures.
• Record medical histories, vitals, and medications accurately in the EMR.
• Set up and clean exam rooms, instruments, and equipment.
• Assist with wound care, suture/staple removal, and dressing changes.
• Coordinate pre-operative testing, labs, and imaging.
• Provide post-operative education and reinforce discharge instructions.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and HIPAA standards.

Administrative & Coordination Duties

• Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits across multiple facilities.
• Communicate with hospitals, surgical centers, and referring providers to coordinate care.
• Process insurance authorizations and referrals for imaging and procedures.
• Ensure accurate documentation and timely chart completion.
• Support telemedicine visits and assist with digital charting.

Travel Expectations

• Travel 2–3 times per month to satellite offices.
• Occasionally assist with patient education or clinical support at off-site locations.
• Mileage or travel reimbursement provided per practice policy.

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Experience in neurosurgery, orthopedics, or another surgical subspecialty (preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).
• Must have reliable transportation and flexibility for short-notice travel.
