Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Hart, MI

Salary Range: $66,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA and EPA.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures specific to manufacturing operations.
• Investigate all EHS incidents, near misses, and accidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation.
• Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure proper handling of chemicals and materials.
• Perform risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to mitigate potential risks in manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 2-5 years of progressive EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant state/local EHS regulations and standards.
• Experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, hazard communication).
• Proficiency in conducting EHS risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and training delivery skills to engage employees at all levels.

Bonus Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
• Proficiency with EHS management software (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Sphera)
• Bilingual fluency, particularly in Spanish
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or experience applying Lean principles to EHS processes
• Experience conducting internal or external EHS management system audits (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
