Job Title: Powertrain Project Lead
Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Powertrain Project Lead to drive quality projects with a focus on reducing warranty spend and failure rates. This role involves using DFSS and 8D processes to support aggressive timelines and ensure exceptional quality in powertrain systems. Responsibilities- Support High Time in Service (HTIS) Quality Projects using DFSS and 8D processes.
- Rapidly progress through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, Verify, including root cause identification and verification.
- Evaluate high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems, focusing on design-related issues, supplier quality, or manufacturing defects.
- Analyze warranty data and trends, as well as part returns, to identify root causes.
- Identify and verify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Design, execute, or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing.
- Communicate project status and results to management, interfacing regularly with quality and core engineers.
- Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to resolve quality issues related to warranty and repairs quickly.
- Understand different types of repairs and set up work plans, following up to reduce timelines for issue resolution.
- Lead and attend team meetings.
- Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.
- Proactively follow through on responsible activities along with required documentation to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Warranty and failure mode analysis.
- Problem-solving skills with experience in customer concerns and resolutions.
- Knowledge and experience in automotive powertrain, particularly transmission and driveline.
- Strong project management skills.
- 2+ years for Intermediate or 5+ years for level in automotive experience, particularly in Powertrain engineering, warranty, and manufacturing.
- Experience working in quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
