Electrical Engineer | Portage, MI

Salary Range: $79,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test electrical systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions in production machinery and control systems.
• Program, configure, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMIs, and industrial automation systems.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies for electrical infrastructure and equipment.
• Ensure all electrical systems and installations comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations (e.g., NFPA 70E).
• Lead or support electrical engineering projects, including upgrades, new installations, and process improvements.
• Create and maintain accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, automation, and robotics.
• Experience with power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and perform root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) and best practices for industrial applications.

Bonus Qualifications

• PLC programming and HMI development experience (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens)
• Experience with industrial robotics and vision systems
• Familiarity with SCADA/MES systems and industrial networking protocols
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
