Support specialist

Position: Full-time Student Support Specialist or Counselor (grades 6-12)

• Salary: Per DEA Contract
• Location: Dansville Middle and High School

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate (NT, SCL, or any 6-12 certification)
• Experience and skill working with students in secondary grade ranges

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to collaborate with staff to provide student support
• Successful experience providing student support and interventions
• Experience providing academic and career planning support
• Experience with 504 Plans and attendance interventions
• Shows initiative but also willing to take direction
• Ability to work independently, organize, and use time effectively

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with students, staff, and parents to facilitate student success
• Coordinate college visits and other career-related events
• Provide developmental interventions for friendships, organization, or an anti-bullying program
• Oversight of 504 Plans and Middle School Educational Development Plans
• Assist with attendance interventions
• Assist with coordinating grade-level transitions
• Mentor responsibilities for virtual high school classes
• Serve as the district McKinney-Vento coordinator
• Follow policies, procedures, and all other ethical practices and requirements while working with
• students
• Remain up-to-date with current professional trends
• Punctual, reliable, and predictable attendance
• Other duties as assigned
