The Opportunity

The Technical Certification Developer is responsible for the development of Nutanix technical certifications for systems professionals. These certifications are targeted to Sales Engineers, Technical Account Managers, Professional Services Consultants, etc. The Technical Certification Developer will function as a subject matter expert, interacting with other SMEs (Engineers, Product Managers, Tech Support, etc.), on the design and development of certification materials. Exam content will be delivered through a variety of testing platforms, including computer, lab and performance-based item types. The person in this role will be responsible for developing and maintaining the certification content and will work closely with the Course Development team.

At Nutanix, the Technical Certification team is a small yet dynamic group comprised of three talented individuals located across the United States. We work closely together, leveraging our diverse skills and backgrounds to ensure that our technical certification programs are not only effective but also innovative.

You will report to the Director of Technical Certification, who values both professional growth and team collaboration. Our work setup is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining our focus on results. However, there is an expectation to be in the office for meetings and team-building activities as needed. Additionally, this position requires approximately 25% travel, enabling you to engage with teams and clients in different locations, strengthening our connections and outreach within the industry.

Your Role

  • Assume broad responsibility for all aspects of Nutanix certification programs, including assessment validity, relevance, quality, technical accuracy, and functionality.

  • Use both leadership and collaboration skills to form cross-functional teams with stakeholders, product managers, subject-matter experts, production, and marketing to design, develop and maintain Nutanix certification programs.

  • Combine strategic and creative thinking with efficient, time-sensitive execution to drive development of exam content.

  • Update and maintain certification materials.

  • Drive innovation and change within Nutanix's certifications program to maintain the program's industry-leading reputation.

  • Ensure alignment of certification programs with Nutanix's business objectives.

  • Maintain exam performance (including exam and item-level statistics, quality control, content relevance, editing, proofing, etc.) and make necessary quality improvement adjustments throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Manage the Beta testing processes, identifying and resolving issues as required.

  • Communicate program development and performance status to all internal/external stakeholders.

  • Communicate and present to groups at VMware conferences.

  • Act as a consultant on assessment matters in order to make appropriate changes to the assessment process.

  • Work with operations to resolve any certification content or delivery-related issues.

What You Will Bring

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with virtualization and cloud technologies and solutions, preferably including infrastructure management, design, storage virtualization, virtual networking, security, and automation.

  • Knowledge of systems administration, networking, client/server applications, HW configuration and Windows/Linux/Unix Operating Systems.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of tech exam content development experience with a technology company.

  • Previous significant contribution to a certification or assessment program preferred

  • Ability to facilitate groups and meetings in person and remotely

  • Ability to manage schedules and commitments

  • Ability to analyze audience needs and tie them to business requirements

  • Ability to communicate technological concepts

  • Experience with test delivery systems preferred

  • Knowledge of basic statistical analysis preferred

  • Ability to work independently with only minimal management oversight, and exercise broad independent judgment.

  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels with Nutanix employees, partners and customers.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Work Arrangement

Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 112,000 and USD $ 224,400 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
