Program coordinator
Grass Lake Senior Center is dedicated to having a positive impact on the health and well-being of adults 40 years of age and older by providing opportunities for social connections, physical activities and lifelong learning events . We aim to offer a wide variety of engaging activities to create a welcoming environment that encourages more individuals to connect with our center.
Position Overview
Under the direction and guidance of the Executive Director, the successful candidate is responsible for a wide range of administrative duties and activities management.
Duties
· Serve members and visitors of the senior center with courtesy and respect
· Responsible for planning, implementing, scheduling and evaluating programs
· Monthly newsletter printing and distribution
· Ensure set up and take down of daily activities including clean up after meals
· Posting events to social media such as Facebook
· Organize and maintain files and records
· Coordinates events and luncheons
· Creates or updates records with new files and information
· Enters paperwork into an electronic system by data entry
· Maintains security of confidential information
· Recruits volunteers
· Occasional weekend availability
· Some evening work involved
· All other appropriate duties as requested by the Executive Director
Qualifications
· High School diploma or G.E.D.
· One year working with the senior population, social work, education or related field (preferred)
· Strong understanding of Internet and proficiency with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and Canva
· Familiarity with social media
· Ability to multitask
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Office organizational skills
· Possesses time management skills to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlines.
· Ability to relate to seniors with understanding and compassion
· A positive attitude
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Licenses and Certification
· Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license or ID card
· Must have reliable transportation
· Desirable certifications: CPR, AED and first aid.
