Position Summary

Grand Valley Medical Specialists is a well-established private practice that has been serving patients in the Grand Rapids area since the mid-1930s. Our team consists of 15 skilled physicians specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine, along with 5 advanced practice providers.

We are seeking a full-time Medical Records Specialist for our Health Park location in Wyoming, MI 49519. The ideal candidate is capable of working in a fast-paced environment while simultaneously providing quality patient care. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to multi-task at a proficient and accurate level to maintain the privacy of sensitive PHI in accordance to HIPAA.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

· Inbound and Outbound calls

· Scanning, faxing and sorting PHI documents

· Utilize EMR system

· Maintain current knowledge on HIPAA laws and regulations

· Assist staff with clerical projects as requested

· Process incoming records for continuation/transfer of care

· May assist with request via patient walk-ins

· Must meet productivity expectations as outlined

· Other duties as assigned by Manager

Qualifications

· Work Environment: Must be able to work from the office

· Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in Medical records/HIM or Medical facility

· Preferred Skills: Experience with Allscripts and EPIC EHR is preferred
