Impact and Opportunity

The Director, Corporate Indirect Purchasing is responsible for developing and executing the global indirect purchasing strategy across the enterprise. Reporting into Corporate FP&A, this leader partners closely with corporate and business unit leadership to identify savings opportunities, optimize enterprise spend, strengthen supplier relationships, and drive value creation through strategic sourcing, category management, and procurement excellence. The role serves as a key advisor in evaluating trade-offs, prioritizing investments, and supporting enterprise decision-making to balance cost, risk, and business objectives. In addition, the Director plays a critical role in corporate transformation initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations, working cross-functionally with Finance, Strategy, Divisional Purchasing, and executive leadership to identify, validate, and execute procurement synergies while ensuring business continuity and long-term value creation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the indirect purchasing lead for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global indirect purchasing spending strategy aligned with corporate objectives and long-term business priorities while identifying synergies. Including business cases, implementation roadmaps, and executive reporting to monitor value realization against acquisition targets.
  • Build trusted partnerships with divisional leadership and corporate functions to align procurement strategies with evolving business priorities.
  • Partner with Corporate FP&A and Corporate Strategy to identify, validate, and execute procurement opportunities that support transaction objectives and deliver measurable value.
  • Identify, validate, and deliver purchasing spend synergies through supplier consolidation, contract harmonization, category optimization, demand aggregation, and process standardization.
  • Evaluate supplier overlap, commercial agreements, purchasing processes, and organizational capabilities to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost optimization.
  • Lead supplier transition planning and contract negotiations to ensure seamless integration and continuity of supply.
  • Support due diligence activities by assessing indirect spend, supplier risk, contract obligations, purchasing processes, and synergy opportunities.
  • Establish enterprise purchasing policies, governance, and best practices to improve efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
  • Identify emerging market trends, supplier innovations, and business opportunities to enhance competitive advantage.
  • Develop and execute category strategies that optimize total cost of ownership while balancing quality, service, innovation, and risk.
  • Lead enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives and complex commercial negotiations.
  • Develop strategies to proactively manage supplier, commercial, operational, and geopolitical risks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience.
  • 7+ years of people leadership experience managing managers and/or global teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide indirect procurement organizations and category management strategies.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, or post-merger integrations.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and delivering procurement synergies across complex organizations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and drive enterprise decisions.
  • Extensive experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, drive organizational change, and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing business cases, managing budgets, and delivering measurable cost savings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPSD, CPM, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Experience in a global manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environment.
