Medical Assistant Job Details

• Location: Traverse City, MI 49684 (Northern Michigan healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital – Bay Area Urology
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (September 1, 2025 – November 29, 2025)
• Shift: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Shift Duration: 8-hour days
• Hours per Week: 30–32 hours (overtime after 40 hours)
• Weekends/Holidays: No weekends or holidays required
• On Call: No
• EMR System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Blue
• Estimated weekly pay: $1,150–$1,180

Certified Medical Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), preferably in urology or hospital clinical support
• Active CMA certification
• Current BLS certification
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Completion of onboarding requirements (health screenings, background checks, competency exams, documentation)
• Ability to secure housing in Traverse City, MI (housing may be limited during assignment)

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Assist urology providers with patient care, including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and preparing for procedures
• Accurately document patient information in the Cerner EMR system
• Perform clinical tasks such as specimen collection, EKGs, and assisting with minor procedures
• Maintain exam rooms and uphold infection control protocols
• Provide compassionate, professional support to patients and families
• Collaborate with the hospital healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care
