Service Engineer

AVL Test Systems Inc. is growing our service team! We are looking for a Service Engineer to support a customer in Pontiac, MI. The Service Engineer position is a great opportunity to work with a specific customer to continue growth and development in emissions. This position will deliver professional and customer-oriented services according to customer requirements and the CS processes. The Service Engineer position is responsible for maintenance, calibration and repair of measurement equipment within testing facilities in addition to installation and installation supervision of AVL products. Qualified candidates must possess 1+ years relevant experience (internship experience is considerable), preferably with experience in trouble shooting with electrical schematics and knowledge of emissions equipment. Strong communication skills are required to support a variety of customer interactions. This position will include minimal travel and will be primarily located onsite at a customer location in Pontiac, MI. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
ROLES:
- Act as Liaison and company representative for customers
- Perform at customer sites; test equipment installation, configuration, maintenance, and calibration to AVL specifications as defined through the AVL Qualification Initiative (QI).
- Troubleshoot and repair products to AVL specifications following defined processes.
- Professional and timely completion of service and commissioning reports and other administrative responsibilities as required.
- Actively participate in developing one’s own training plan and exhibits ownership in completing training towards realization of selected diplomas and competency.
- Provide feedback and improvement suggestions on troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).
- Generates calibration certificates, service reports and is responsible for evaluation and presentation of results
- Perform Hotline support as required including the use of reporting tools, Helpdesk II etc.
- The ability to communicate with customers in a professional way and in the ability to independently describe, categorize, analyze and solve service requests and issues.
- Timely follow up on items and the ability to drive issues to closure.
- Complete all applicable safety training
- Must be willing to travel
- Other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
- 3-7+ years’ experience in related field
- 3+ year experience with test automation equipment preferred
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
