Job Description

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Application Architect, Java for a contract opportunity. This role offers the chance to apply your skills in support of meaningful work for one of our client partners.

The Application Architect is a key contributor responsible for providing technical guidance to the application development team. This role includes designing, developing, and supporting complex Java-based applications. You will work closely with business partners to ensure application designs align with functional requirements and system modernization goals.

This role is critical in supporting system stability, improving data integrity, ensuring SEM/SUITE compliance, and enhancing security. The Application Architect will collaborate with developers and stakeholders, contribute to technology roadmaps, and support system enhancements, integrations, and implementation activities.

Qualifications

• ~12+ years designing and developing complex systems using Java/Jakarta EE

• ~12+ years reviewing technical designs to ensure compliance with enterprise standards

• ~10+ years developing with Java IDEs (Eclipse, Spring Tool Suite)

• ~10+ years designing and reviewing SQL/PL-SQL data models

• ~8+ years preparing and maintaining technology roadmaps

• ~8+ years developing with Java EE and Spring/Spring Boot Framework 3.0

• ~8+ years developing with Hibernate/JPA

• ~5+ years with Angular or React and JavaScript frameworks

• ~5+ years working with JBoss/WildFly and containerized environments (OpenShift)

• ~5+ years applying CMM/CMMI Level 3 practices

• ~5+ years participating in Agile development including test-driven development

• ~3+ years building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps

• ~5+ years working with cloud technologies (AWS preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or ActiveMQ

• Experience with SOAP and RESTful services

• Experience developing in Databricks

• Exposure to large-scale distributed systems and container orchestration

• Familiarity with observability tools and Elastic agents

The base range for this contract position is $60.00 -$75.00per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
