TITLE: Director of Social Services

STATUS: Full-Time: 40 hours per week; Day shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands; Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose them to illness or interfere with the obtaining of maximum benefits from medical care; Directs and administer the Human Services Program of the hospital and Geriatric Program.

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
2. Previous experience in social work in a hospital setting, supervision, and budget management.
3. Demonstrates the ability to function in a leadership position.
4. Able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and procedures and accuracy in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
5. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital and community committees.
6. Demonstrates ability to assimilate the totality of the patient's circumstances, medical problems, family support, home environment, finances, etc.
7. Influences the direction of the Human Services department by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
8. Ability to maintain concentration despite interruptions, Capable of functioning under stressful situations.
9. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and effective communication in dealing with customers and hospital personnel.
10. Demonstrates administrative and technical skills essential to job and supervision of human service programs.
11. Possesses thorough knowledge of counseling skills and crisis intervention strategies.
