ER Nurse Job Details

• Location: Lansing, MI 48912 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
• Facility Type: Emergency Room – Level I Trauma Center
• Assignment Length: 20 weeks (Start: 8/19/2025 – End: 1/6/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1890–$1940
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends (Fri-Sun) per 4-week schedule (1-3 days per weekend)
• Floating: May float to Pediatric Emergency Department as needed
• On Call: No on-call required
• Orientation: 36 hours of paid orientation

ER Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan (required by start date; compact licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Level I trauma ER nursing experience (2 years preferred)
• Current certifications (must be valid at start):
  • ACLS (AHA preferred)
  • BLS (AHA preferred)
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • ENPC
  • NIHSS
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR charting system
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proof of high school education required
• Willingness to work 2 of 3 major holidays (including the day before and after)
• Ability to manage high patient ratios (1:5-6, up to 1:8 during peak times)
• Completion of required modules prior to start (approx. 5 hours, non-billable)

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced ER setting
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; deliver trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric emergency care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products
• Perform triage, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including IV, respiratory, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
• Float to Pediatric Emergency Department as needed
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and clinical best practices
