Senior Lead Applicator

The Pond Guy
Armada, MI

Job Description

Job Description

Do you thrive in the outdoors and take pride in delivering environmentally responsible solutions that keep waterways healthy and beautiful? Are you looking for a leadership role where you can manage complex aquatic ecosystems and see the direct results of your work? Are you ready to lead large-scale aquatic treatment and install projects and make a visible impact on the health of our customers’ waters?

If you answered yes to the questions above, we need you as our Senior Lead Applicator!

We need people who love the outdoors and can communicate effectively and professionally with our customers. Our technicians manage nuisance algae and aquatic weeds in and around our customers' waters and are cross trained on installs and service calls of fountains and aeration systems. See the details of the position below.

The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer and distributor of pond, lake, and water garden products-including aeration systems, fountains, and water treatments—to a nationwide network of end-users and Airmax dealers.

Watch now to learn about The Pond Guy:

What you can expect:

  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Monday-Friday schedule with seasonal overtime as needed
  • Independence in the field while serving customers
  • Hands-on work with aquatic treatments, fountains, and aeration systems

Our Senior Lead Applicator is critical to providing our customers with quality service. This role exercises independent judgment in determining treatment methodologies within regulatory parameters, allocating resources to maximize efficiency and compliance. You will also be cross trained on installs and service calls of fountains and aerations systems, expanding your ability to support customers across multiple service areas. At The Pond Guy, our family-oriented culture extends to our customers as we strive to provide the best experiences possible.

Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include:

  • Coordinate and oversee aquatic treatment service operations within assigned territory
  • Develop seasonal service plans, chemical application strategies, and resource allocation plans
  • Establish service schedules, route efficiency standards, and performance benchmarks
  • Monitor service quality and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Interpret and apply EPA, state, and local aquatic treatment regulations
  • Develop compliance protocols and documentation standards
  • Oversee chemical handling procedures and risk mitigation strategies
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert on aquatic regulatory matters
  • Complete service calls for customers regarding their pond/lake equipment and lead installations of complete systems
  • Electronically complete service notes, including treatment approaches conducted, work orders/inventory used, and communicate repair trends to management
  • Exercise independent judgment in resolving escalated service issues
  • Represent The Pond Guy professionally while delivering exceptional customer service in the field

Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! We provide all the training you need to excel. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone fully understands The Pond Guy’s proactive approach to pond management. Don’t worry, all training is paid.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:

  • Established performance standards and led a team to consistently achieve high-performance outcomes
  • Experience in chemical application and/or pesticides is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of pond care and fish production is a bonus but not required
  • Experience in construction, landscaping, or horticulture is a plus but not required.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, outgoing, and pleasant, with a focus on safety and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Will require the ability to receive a Chauffer’s license and DOT card
  • Ability to operate a boat and drive a truck and trailer will be required after training

Because this position involves a variety of tasks, the physical requirements for both in-office and in-the-field environments are necessary. The service tech role requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk, and looking at a computer screen for long periods. This position also requires the ability to swim, perform repetitive motions for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity when working with small components; frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long durations; lift, lower, and carry packages typically weighing 25–50 lbs; and handle packages up to 150 lbs with assistance. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances.

We’re looking for a Senior Lead Applicator who is ready to hit the water running. An experienced professional who leads from the front and sets the standard every single day. You bring a positive, solutions-driven mindset where “can’t” and “impossible” simply don’t exist. You confidently manage large-scale aquatic treatments, make sound decisions in the field, and serve as the go-to expert for customers and teammates alike. Your knowledge, professionalism, and environmental stewardship show in every interaction and every application.

You look beyond the task list, anticipate needs, solve problems before they escalate, and continuously add value to the organization through leadership, accountability, and initiative.

Availability

While this is a year-round position, from April through September, you must be available to work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Due to traffic and weather conditions, as well as ensuring compliance with treatment regulations, hours may extend past 6 p.m. During peak season, there are few to no Saturdays. The remaining months will have a Monday through Friday schedule.
