Associate Director of Therapy

Flourish Health
Ann Arbor, MI

About Flourish

1 in 25 adolescents and young adults will be diagnosed with serious mental illness. The majority of these families struggle to get care. Flourish (**) is here to ensure that everybody gets the same access we have.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled startup leader with experience supervising masters-level therapists. You have experience working collaboratively across disciplines as well. You are familiar with our patient population: adolescents and transitional aged youth with Medicaid who have recently been discharged after a psychiatric hospitalization.

You will oversee, supervise and support the development and growth of each therapist as they deliver care to patients and families. At Flourish, every patient is regularly seen and engages with a psychiatrist, therapist, patient advocate and case manager. Each of these disciplines has a team lead. You will be the team lead for therapy.

You are an experienced and skilled people manager. You build teams up. You approach feedback directly, compassionately, and as a coach. You will be comfortable providing the structure for safe patient care in the environment of a growing startup.

    • Support therapists in understanding the integrated care model, which enables them to move about 70% of patients to every other week therapy because of the interventions delivered and reinforced by patient guides, family guides and psychiatrists
    • Support therapists in focusing on high quality therapy and documentation while leveraging guide team for care coordination and case management work
    • Support therapists in using the relationship they have with their patient to help the patient engage with the rest of the integrated care team to receive the full integrated intervention
  • Clinical Supervision:
    • Supervise patient care with compassion and excellence
    • Supervise care during crisis escalations
    • Lead therapy group consultation
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with the team leads for psychiatry, family guides and patient guides to optimize integrated team functioning
    • Provide (and seek) complex case consultation
    • Attend each integrated team’s rounds
  • People Management:
    • Set expectations clearly to ensure a high functioning therapy team that meets productivity expectations and feels integrated in the company culture
    • Anticipate and meet direct reports’ needs so they can fulfill their role expectations with high performance and high personal sustainability
    • Leverage direct reports’ strengths and give them praise for growth attempts and successes
    • Identify direct reports’ areas of growth and provide coaching with clear feedback
  • Change Management:
    • Startups have changes all the time, sometimes weekly, and this role is for a team leader who will be responsible for the change manage of their team
    • Understand a change, which might entail asking for more conversation with leadership to get to the point of owning a full sense of understanding and personal buy-in
    • Execute on the change outlined by leadership in a tailored way for the needs of the therapy team and direct reports
