Field Service Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with relevant departments to obtain a thorough understanding of NOV products and how they are safely operated, tested, calibrated and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products.
  • Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system.
  • Communicate field failures and feedback reports to the appropriate departments.
  • Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints required.
  • Mechanical / Welding experience 2 years required, 3-5 years preferred).
  • Hydraulic / Pneumatic troubleshooting experience 2 years required, 3-5 years preferred).
  • Basic electronics knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas field components preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must be able to pass DOT driving background check and physical - must be capable of achieving NOV driver status for vehicles over 10,001 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass "SMAW, 3G and 4G weld test prior to employment
  • Must be able to travel for extended periods of time (2-3 weeks)
  • On-call as needed.
  • Employee provides basic tools.
  • Work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Work in limited spaces.
  • Requires standing 95% of the workday.
  • Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects and tools.
  • Requires repetitive movements.
  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Requires lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires pushing and pulling objects.
