We are seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer for a 9-month contract-to-hire position with a custom machine builder in the Walker area. This role is a strategic hire, with the intention of transitioning to a direct hire after the contract period. The ideal candidate will possess over 3 years of Siemens TIA experience, though candidates with slightly less experience who are eager to learn are also encouraged to apply. Proficiency in reading and editing AutoCAD Electrical to view prints is necessary, though experience with ePlan is highly desirable and can be taught. Experience with custom machine integration or material handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of 8 software-focused controls engineers.

• Work closely with the hardware team, with opportunities to integrate and learn additional skills.

• Travel approximately 20% of the time, supporting projects in South Carolina and potentially other locations.

• Handle travel logistics including car rentals or flights, with reimbursement for mileage and per diem provided.

• Work an average of 45 hours per week, with flexibility in start time and the potential for remote work as needed.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Siemens PLC programming from scratch.

• Ability to read and edit schematics/prints in ePlan, with AutoCAD skills being transferable.

• Experience in custom machine building and integration.

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Allen Bradley from scratch.

• Knowledge of Ignition software.

• Experience with Fanuc and ABB robots.

Work Environment

This role is based in a new facility offering a collaborative environment with a large and clean shop floor. While the role primarily requires in-person attendance, there is flexibility for remote work when necessary. Travel involves working at various sites, including those in the food and beverage and automotive industries.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
