Reporting Location: Belleville/Detroit, MI
Position SummaryJoin a crew that builds critical underground infrastructure supporting gas, electric, and communication systems. As an Underground Utility Construction Laborer, you will work alongside experienced field teams installing and maintaining essential utilities.
This is a hands-on, physically demanding role ideal for individuals who take pride in hard work, value teamwork, and want to grow in the utility construction industry.
What You’ll Do- Perform general labor tasks in a utility construction environment using hand tools and equipment
- Dig and trim trenches, backfill, and support installation activities
- Assist with manhole construction, pipe installation/removal, and concrete work
- Install, remove, and assist with conduit, cable, and related infrastructure
- Support demolition and site restoration activities
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and instructions
- Assist line-up crews, welders, and field operations as needed
- Support construction, repair, and maintenance of utility infrastructure
- Drive company vehicles to job sites and assist with traffic control and flagging
- Compensation is based on the applicable union scale, with opportunities for higher starting pay based on experience.
- Minimum Starting Pay: $31.66/hour (includes $2.00/hour CDL Premium - $27.66/hour base + $4.00/hour vacation)

Requirements:What We’re Looking For
- Valid CDL-A Driver’s License
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-first mindset
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work (standing, squatting, lifting for extended periods)
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and in all weather conditions
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening, participate in random drug testing, and maintain a satisfactory driving record (MVR)
