Job Purpose and Focus
This entry-level position is viewed as a career step in school administration. The successful candidate will assist in building-level matters related to administration, supervision, student support, and instructional leadership as assigned by the principal.
This position is designed to proactively support student achievement, engagement, attendance, behavior, and belonging through the development of positive systems, strong relationships, and targeted interventions. The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with staff, students, and families to create a safe, supportive, and engaging school environment where all students feel connected and empowered to succeed.
The overall goal of this position is to strengthen school culture and climate by promoting student growth, reducing barriers to learning, increasing student engagement and attendance, and supporting academic and behavioral success for all students.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree in educational administration preferred
- Administrator certification or ability to meet certification requirements preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching and/or leadership experience in education preferred
- Willingness to comply with state continuing education requirements
- Previous successful leadership experience preferred
- Successful experience working with a diverse student and parent population
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum, teaching, instruction, and assessment practices
- Ability to collaborate with building administration regarding budget and fiscal recommendations
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Patience, reliability, problem-solving ability, diplomacy, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of individuals

Essential Functions and Representative Duties
- Participate as a member of the district administrative team
- Assist the Principal in coordinating administrative and supervisory services within the building
- Serve in the absence of the principal as the chief building administrator
- Support the development and implementation of systems that promote positive student behavior, attendance, engagement, and belonging
- Collaborate with staff, students, and families to establish and maintain a positive and inclusive school culture
- Develop and implement proactive behavioral and attendance supports designed to reduce barriers to student success
- Utilize student data to identify trends and support targeted interventions related to attendance, behavior, engagement, and academic achievement
- Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of individual and group student support plans
- Serve as a resource to staff regarding classroom management, restorative practices, student engagement, and intervention strategies
- Assist in developing programs and enrichment opportunities that support student connection, achievement, and positive school experiences
- Work collaboratively with faculty and administrators to support students in need of additional academic, behavioral, attendance, or engagement support through intervention systems, differentiated supports, and student-centered problem solving
- Develop and implement individual, small-group, and large-group intervention strategies to increase student engagement, attendance, achievement, and school connectedness
- Develop plans and strategies for parent and family involvement that proactively engage families in supporting their child and the school community
- Support staff in fostering learning environments that are engaging, inclusive, student-centered, and achievement-focused
- Assist in certified and non-certified staff evaluations
- Assist in supervising extracurricular activities and programs as assigned
- Assist in staff development and professional learning opportunities aligned to district and building goals
- Assist in district and building testing programs
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the building
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and development through professional organizations, conferences, workshops, coursework, and other learning opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment
Wages and benefits as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The Board of Education and the Carman-Ainsworth Administrators Association, level 4 for 44 weeks.
Work Environment
Must be able to work with various degrees of noise and activity. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. Must be able to work toward district goals.

Pay: $97,895.06 - $110,619.49 per year
