Production Systems Manager, Casting Operations
Drive operational excellence across Plant 10
Join our Whitehall Casting Operation to elevate performance where it matters most—safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Your mission: implement new methods, streamline processes, and deploy ABS and EHS improvements across all shifts, all while engaging and empowering employees. You’ll be a catalyst for continuous improvement and a guardian of a safe, orderly workplace.
What you'll do
- Lead a results-oriented team: communicate priorities, run stand-ups and meetings, manage performance reviews, staffing, and timekeeping, and align assignments to the plan.
- Coach for growth and accountability; deliver timely recognition and corrective feedback with proper documentation.
- Ensure thorough training and orientation: EHS rules, job proficiency, company policies, procedures, and business initiatives.
- Honor the collective bargaining agreement; interface with union representatives and handle grievances effectively.
- Analyze production and operations data to resolve manufacturing and maintenance issues quickly and at the lowest cost.
- Investigate deviations; recommend corrective and preventive actions for schedule, cost, quality, and related drivers.
- Ensure teams have the right tools, equipment, and supplies; reinforce use of the help chain.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and quality to solve maintenance challenges and strengthen equipment reliability.
- Audit work practices for safety compliance; close gaps without delay.
- Plan, develop, and implement methods and procedures that reduce operating costs and maximize utilization of labor and materials.
- Lead and participate in safety inspections and housekeeping audits.
- Model compliance with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
How you'll lead
- Think system-wide to eliminate silos between shifts and departments.
- Use metrics to prioritize—safety, quality, and LU—focusing on the overall impact.
- Build trust across levels; mentor others and resolve issues at the right altitude.
- Facilitate fast decisions; translate plans and policy to the floor even with limited data.
- Champion customer requirements and the voice of manufacturing in planning forums.
- Balance immediate needs with long-term strategy; plan, react, and anticipate.
- Bring structure and daily coordination to projects with many stakeholders.
- Operate autonomously; make clear decisions and embrace constructive feedback.
