Description

The Community Health Corps (CHC) Resource Specialist (Administrative Special Services II) ARPA for the Community Engagement and Improvement Division is the direct liaison with people seeking information and help from local resource agencies. It is the responsibility of the CHC Resource Specialist to work with those in need of services to ensure that they receive prompt and accurate information regarding resource enrollment. This communication will often require problem solving and follow-up services.

The City of Detroit Housing and Revitalization Department's Community Engagement and Improvement Division looks to address city-wide housing insecurity with resource navigation assistance. CEI is structured to meet a broad range of housing needs faced by residents, through an internal continuum of services - As a participant's household needs change, so does the type of services available to them within the program.

Examples of Duties

  • Provide high quality referral services to both individuals and agencies.
  • Assist/screen clients in applying for various programs.
  • Assists clients and agencies with problem solving to arrive at helpful solutions.
  • Types of calls will include basic needs, mental health, homelessness and employment requests.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Accurately document client assessments and referrals in program data system.
  • Maintain and add to a program database of high quality and available resources.
  • Perform follow up procedures to assure quality of service delivery.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
  • Some travel required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of work in social or human services, business administration, public administration, public policy, economics, urban studies, or a closely related field. Qualifications: MInimum one (1) year of professional experience involving the systematic review of financial data or one(1) year of experience in customer service, health, human or social services, or other related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position.
