Director of Communications

Catholic Biblical School of Michigan Ministry
Warren, MI

SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Director of Communications will lead the strategic development, execution, and management of all internal and external communications of the Catholic Biblical School Ministry. The primary objective of this role is to expand the reach of our Scripture-centered adult faith formation programs. This includes driving enrollment for regional (Michigan) and online classes, communicating with parish leaders, and deepening engagement with our community of prospective participants, participants, alumni, and donors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Priority #1 - Parish Outreach & Recruitment Marketing
  • The most important task is to design and coordinate marketing campaigns for the annual enrollment cycle (primarily mid-April through mid-September), promoting fully online courses, information nights, and parish-hosted cohorts.
  • Create customizable promotional materials ("Parish Toolkits") including bulletin announcements, flyers, and pulpit scripts to support pastors and local coordinators in promoting the Catholic Biblical School Ministry.
Priority #2 - Strategic Organizational Communication & Content Creation
  • Develop and execute an integrated annual communications plan that aligns the messaging for both regional (Michigan) and national audiences.
  • Produce compelling, high-quality content that articulates the ministry's mission: helping Catholics encounter Jesus through the in-depth study of God's Word.
  • Draft, design, and distribute regular digital newsletters and other email communications to participants, alumni, and supporters using email marketing platforms (Little Green Light).
  • Manage, update, and optimize content for both primary websites (cbsmich.org and catholicbiblicalschool.org) to ensure clear user journeys for prospective participants and parish leaders.
Priority #3 - Event & Advancement Support
  • Provide communications support for special events (banquets, conferences, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to draft impact reports, appeal letters, and promotional content for fundraising campaigns.
  • Maintain consistency in brand voice and theological alignment across all development communications.
Priority #4 - Social Media Management & Digital Engagement
  • Oversee the ministry's presence across social media channels.
  • Repurpose existing ministry assets-such as short-form scripture reflection videos (e.g., "1-Minute Sunday Mass Bible Study" videos), instructor spotlights, and participant testimonials-to create engaging social media posts.
  • Monitor digital trends and leverage basic analytics to track the performance of digital campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
  • Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church, possessing a genuine passion for adult faith formation, Scripture study, and the mission of forming missionary disciples.
  • Professional Experience: Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, and/or digital media production.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable navigating digital tools, including content management systems (e.g. Wordpress), email marketing software, registration databases (e.g. Little Green Light), social media management, and basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva).
  • Writing & Editing: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to create accessible, inviting invitations for everyday Catholics.
  • Autonomy & Project Management: Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing independent projects across overlapping operational timelines while working in a remote team environment.

BENEFITS
