Job Description

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Data Engineer for a contract opportunity. This role offers the chance to apply your skills in support of meaningful work for one of our client partners.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance data solutions using AWS, Databricks, Elasticsearch, and modern data engineering tools. In this role, you will build and optimize data pipelines, develop cloud-native applications, manage search and analytics platforms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, efficient, and reliable data systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance solutions using AWS services.

• Work with Databricks, Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Amazon S3 to build and optimize analytics environments.

• Design, build, and maintain ETL processes and end-to-end data pipelines.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python or Scala.

• Develop and support AWS cloud-based applications.

• Implement and manage Elasticsearch for efficient data retrieval and real-time analytics.

• Support data warehousing, data visualization tools, and data quality/integrity initiatives.

• Execute the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering and writing technical/functional specifications.

• Design logical and physical database models; develop database objects (procedures, functions, etc.).

• Utilize Git and other source-control tools for version management.

• Create and maintain technical design documents and collaborate with stakeholders for review.

• Produce system flowcharts, screen layouts, and documentation to support solution clarity.

• Collaborate on large Agile projects and participate in Agile ceremonies.

• Build or support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years developing complex database systems

• 8+ years working with Databricks

• 8+ years using Elasticsearch and Kibana

• 8+ years coding in Python and/or Scala

• 8+ years experience with Oracle

• 5+ years designing and maintaining ETL processes and data pipelines

• 5+ years working with AWS cloud services

• 5+ years in data warehousing, data visualization tools, and data integrity practices

• 5+ years applying CMM/CMMI Level 3 methods

• 5+ years participating in Agile development practices, including test-driven development (TDD)

• 3+ years creating or supporting CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps

The base range for this contract position is $55.00 - $75.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.
