Family Service & Children’s Aid is Hiring a Chief Executive Officer:

Family Service & Children's Aid (FSCA) has been a cornerstone of the Jackson, Michigan community for decades, providing high-quality services to children, families, and adults. Our Mission is: “ Building Strong Families. Building Strong Communities .” FSCA offers a wide variety of services:

  • Behavioral Health Services
  • Foster Care Services and Licensing
  • Adoption Services
  • Prevention Services
  • Guardian Services

FSCA is seeking a visionary and community-rooted leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. This is more than an executive role… it is a calling. The CEO will champion FSCA's mission, guide a dedicated team, and serve as a trusted voice for the children and families we serve across Jackson County.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO leads the organization in all aspects of operations, financial health, community engagement, and strategic direction. We are looking for someone who is not just familiar with Jackson, but someone who is genuinely invested in this community and excited to help it grow stronger.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Program Oversight

  • Lead and manage day-to-day organizational operations with focus on quality service delivery.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that support effective, compliant agency functioning.
  • Oversee licensing, credentialing, and contract compliance across all program areas.
  • Support and inspire a talented, mission-driven team.

Financial Management

  • Oversee budgeting, financial controls, and responsible management of all organizational resources.
  • Lead fund development efforts, including grant writing, funder relationships and fundraising events.
  • Ensure long-term financial sustainability across multiple funding streams.

Community Leadership & Strategic Growth

  • Serve as FSCA's primary representative. Building relationships with community partners, funders, government officials, and stakeholders.
  • Champion the Agency's mission through coalition, advocacy, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Board to develop and execute a compelling long-term strategic plan.
  • Monitor legislative and policy changes that may impact on the clients FSCA serves.

Board Partnership

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill organizational governance responsibilities.
  • Support board recruitment, development, and engagement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field. (MBA, PhD preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit* leadership experience, including management of multiple funding sources and programs. *Nonprofit experience must be in a similar field
  • Active licensure as LMSW, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Psychologist (required for clinical supervision oversight).
  • Demonstrated experience in contract audits, experience with COA Accreditation process is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, grant writing, and community leadership.
