Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school-based social worker opportunity is available to provide crucial support to elementary students and their families during a maternal leave contract. This position is located in Allendale, MI, serving an elementary school community for the duration of the 2023-2024 school year.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support students well-being and academic success
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to create a supportive learning environment
- Provide individual and group counseling to help students manage personal and social challenges
- Connect families with community resources to address additional needs
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to educational planning
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with school policies
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- Valid state social work licensure or eligibility
- Experience working with children in educational settings preferred
- Strong counseling, communication, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and families
- Knowledge of community resources and support services
- Commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices
