Physician -Psychiatry

**Job Description:**

We are looking for a doctor to provide care for adult patients in a special mental health unit. Your main duties will include:

- Conducting initial evaluations of patients to understand their mental health conditions.
- Diagnosing mental health issues and managing their treatment plans.
- Prescribing and monitoring medications that help with mental health, while working with a care team.
- Working closely every day with a team that includes nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, case managers, and other specialists.
- Joining daily meetings to discuss patient care and how to best support them.
- Keeping accurate records of patient information in the electronic medical record system.
- Following a regular work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility based on the doctor’s needs.
- Taking turns with weekend calls on a rotating schedule of every fourth weekend.
- Optionally working extra shifts for additional pay if interested.
- Helping teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in a learning environment.
- Having the chance to explore other interests like research, outpatient care, or leadership roles based on personal and departmental goals.

**Qualifications**

- Open to experienced doctors or recent graduates who are Board Certified or Board Eligible.
- New graduates are also welcome to apply.
- Doctors must be Board Certified in their specialty or Board Eligible and become Board Certified within 2 years of being eligible.

**Requirements:**

- Must be Board Eligible (able to become Board Certified within 2 years) - this is a must.
- Valid Michigan license is required at the time of employment.
- DEA registration is required.
- BLS certification is required and must be updated regularly.

**Additional Information:**

If you are Board Eligible, you must become Board Certified within 2 years. You also need a valid Michigan license, a DEA license, and BLS Certification with regular updates.
