Material Handler - 1st Shift

Weve even spray-coated all the hardware in the Statue of Liberty during its restoration from 1984-1986 with our specialty corrosion-resistant coatings. Summary The Material Handler will transport materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations. Duties/Responsibilities: Checking incoming customer parts and raw materials for various conditions including shipping damage, count verification, surface condition, and identification.Prepares shipments by properly wrapping, banding, or otherwise securing parts for safe shipment.Loading and unloading of all trucks.Proper maintenance and use of equipment required to perform required processes (forklift, scale, wrapper, etc.).Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.Transports and loads materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids).Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment.Retrieves skids from shelving for departments when the parts are needed.Moves up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Proven experience as a forklift operator.Excellent verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Good math and written communication skills.Efficient time management skills. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required.2 years of related experience preferred.
