Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all school facilities and grounds. This role ensures a clean, functional, and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors by managing maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and enforcing safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily work of maintenance and custodial staff
• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative maintenance programs
• Inspect school buildings, systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and grounds regularly
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and district policies
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; order materials as needed
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
• Prepare maintenance reports, work logs, and budget estimates
• Train staff on proper procedures, safety practices, and equipment use
• Support school events by ensuring facilities are properly set up and maintained

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or technical certification preferred)
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a school setting
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
