In accordance with the Agency’s mission statement, policies and procedures, professional Code of Ethics, State of Michigan licensing, contracts, funding, and COA standards; the Event Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating Vista Maria’s signature fundraising and community engagement events. This role plays a critical part in advancing the organization’s visibility, donor engagement, and revenue generation goals. The ideal candidate is a creative strategist, meticulous planner, and enthusiastic advocate for non-profit work.
TASKS OF THE POSITION
• Lead the planning and execution of major fundraising events, including annual galas, golf outings, donor receptions, and awareness campaigns.
• Partner with the executive leadership team to assist with on-campus events for the board, staff, and key constituents.
• Develop event concepts that align with Vista Maria’s brand, mission, and fundraising goals.
• Manage event timelines, budgets, logistics, committees, and vendor relationships.
• Work with youth in care to highlight their voices, stories, and successes for special events.
• Collaborate with the development team to secure event sponsorships.
• Collaborate with event committees to secure in-kind donations and auction items.
• Cultivate relationships with corporate partners, donors, and community constituents.
• Track and report on event ROI and fundraising metrics.
• Partner with the marketing team to create promotional materials, social media campaigns, and press outreach.
• Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all event touchpoints.
• Partner with the volunteer resource team to recruit, train, and manage event volunteers and internal support teams.
• Provide leadership and direction during live events to ensure smooth execution.
• Conduct debriefings and evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation for future planning.
• Provide post event stewardship and communication to event donors and auction winners.
• Work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
• Adapt to changing circumstances before, dueting and after events to ensure seamless execution and problem solving.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Proven success in managing large-scale events and securing sponsorships.
• Excellent communication, sound decision-making and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage, motivate and develop effective relationships with event committees.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment.
• Computer literacy skills, proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge Database or similar database experience.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / TRAINING)
Minimum Required
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other related fields.
• Three to five years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license without relevant restrictions.
