Purpose and Function of Job:

Summertime season, but full time hours Groundskeeper assists with the aesthetics and efficient operation of the playing surface, turf and grounds at LMCU Ballpark by caring for and supervising the use of the field while maintaining it in the highest quality condition. The Groundskeeper also assists closing up of the grounds for the off season. The Groundskeeper works closely with Major League Affiliate, visiting teams, coaches, and players to develop positive relationship all while embodying The Whitecaps Way and representing the image of the West Michigan Whitecaps and LMCU Ballpark.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Principle duties and responsibilities of this job classification:
   1. Involved with preparation, maintenance and repair of field at LMCU Ballpark.
   2. Assist with both the prep and break down of field for baseball game.
   3. Assist with infield skin maintenance, mound and plate maintenance.
   4. Assist with pulling tarp.
   5. Assist in setting up and tearing down batting practice.
   6. Help to maintain litter control.
   7. Assist in general operation of stadium and grounds.
   8. Assist in cleaning of dugouts.
   9. Ability to operate field equipment such as mower, trap rake, utility vehicles.
   10. Other duties as assigned.

2. Special skills/abilities/competencies required:

   1. Some fundamental knowledge of recreational playing surfaces is preferred.
   2. Experience with the use of turf equipment a plus.
   3. Experience with concert/event set up a plus.
   4. Excellent presentation of customer service skills.
   5. Ability to project a positive image to internal (employees) and external (fans) customers.
   6. Ability to effectively present and respond to information and questions from management and coaching staff as needed.
   7. Ability to multitask.
   8. Ability to work non-traditional long hours and remain flexible. Holidays and weekends as needed.
   9. Ability to work in all weather conditions.
   10. Ability to stand and walk for 3+ hours at a time.

3. Certifications or special qualifications needed:

   1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
   2. Must have a valid driver’s license.
