International manufacturing organization seeks an HR Manager to join their management team.

As the sole Human Resources leader at the facility, the HR Manager oversees the full spectrum of HR responsibilities, including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, payroll, compliance, and workplace safety. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent, fosters a positive and productive culture, and maintains effective processes that support overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle: job postings, sourcing, interviewing, and background checks.
  • Lead on-boarding and off-boarding processes, coordinating with IT and asset management.
  • Partner with leadership to anticipate workforce needs and develop staffing plans.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for all employees, advising on performance, conduct, and employee relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations and provide guidance on resolutions that align with company policies and employment laws.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives and open communication.

Training & Development

  • Design and implement training programs to build technical, leadership, and professional skills.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and annual employee development programs.
  • Measure training effectiveness via feedback, performance metrics, and employee surveys.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll

  • Manage payroll processing in collaboration with finance, ensuring accuracy in HR systems.
  • Oversee benefits administration and leave programs (FMLA, STD, LTD).
  • Support annual performance and compensation reviews.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment regulations, including Michigan labor laws.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation, annual OSHA reporting, and workplace safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HRIS data integrity.

Performance & Talent Management

  • Manage performance appraisal cycles and maintain talent data for succession planning and career development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen HR operations and workforce capabilities.

HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Provide actionable HR metrics and workforce insights to leadership.
  • Maintain organizational charts, dashboards, and reporting tools for business planning.

Qualifications & Core Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of HR experience with proven success managing HR functions independently.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and compliance requirements (federal and Michigan-specific).
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and employee benefits administration.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • HR certifications (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
