Salary Range: $54,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Charlotte that are seeking Tool Makers. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and set up a variety of machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of existing tooling.
• Conduct precision measurements using metrology tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool fabrication based on application requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Expertise in precision measurement techniques and metrology instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Solid understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and heat treatment processes.
• Completion of a formal Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship or 5+ years of equivalent experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and CNC programming.
• Proficiency in advanced metrology equipment, such as CMMs.
• Familiarity with EDM or Wire EDM processes.
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels.
