Specialist - Advisor-Continuing
Position Summary
This position provides academic advising services to undergraduate students in the SPDC undergraduate programs (Construction Management, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning); contributes to SPDC Student Services; and supports SPDC's and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources' undergraduate program goals, missions, and initiatives. To maintain accreditation standards, the four undergraduate degree pathways have competitive secondary admission processes. This position is primarily responsible for oversight of pre-admission advising support in SPDC's Student Services Office. Responsibilities include enrollment management and secondary admission support; academic program planning, career development, probation conferences, and campus resource referrals; coordinating New Student Orientation (NSO) and other orientation initiatives for the School; developing and implementing activities related to recruitment and student success; leading Admitted Student Day and other prospective student engagement initiatives; assisting with scholarships; and participating in commencement. Additional responsibilities include facilitation of the SPDC internship course (PDC 493); chairing monthly Student Advisory Council (StAC) meetings; attending career-readiness events on and off campus (involves travel that may include evening and weekend attendance); etc. Further responsibilities may include data collection and analysis and other duties as assigned.

Required Degree
Masters -Counseling, higher education, social work, student affairs, public administration/affairs or a closely related field.
Minimum Requirements
Two or more years of experience in academic advising, recruitment, student success and engagement, or comparable experience with college/university undergraduate students.
Desired Qualifications
Ability to interpret and implement academic policies and procedures. Demonstrated competency in the use of university technologies. Familiarity with online student information/databases and MS Excel. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to establish rapport across ethnic, racial, cultural and gender differences, as necessary.
