Job Title: General Labor – Automotive Carpet Manufacturing
Job Description

This full-time, long-term general labor position supports a high-volume manufacturing facility that produces carpeted products for the automotive industry. You will load and unload materials and assemblies into presses, perform visual inspections, and help produce formed and trimmed carpet components used in vehicles. The role requires consistent overtime, weekend work when needed, and the ability to work on a structured shift schedule in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload carpet assemblies and related materials into and out of production presses in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate within high-production stamping cells, following established procedures and meeting production targets and efficiency metrics.
  • Inspect parts visually and by feel to ensure they meet quality standards, identifying defects or irregularities in carpet assemblies.
  • Trim parts as necessary to meet specifications, using appropriate tools and following safety guidelines.
  • Handle carpet assemblies weighing approximately 10–15 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds when performing material handling tasks.
  • Follow instructions from line leaders and experienced production employees during training and day-to-day operations.
  • Learn and perform 2–3 different production jobs within the first week to support multiple lines as needed.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekend work.
  • Work 10-hour shifts and be available to work six days per week as production demands require.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, plant rules, and quality standards while working in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with line leaders, production supervisors, and other team members to support continuous improvement and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the press and material carts.
Essential Skills
  • Stable work history, typically at least 1–2 years with previous employers.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with a strong commitment to not being late or calling in unexpectedly.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required by production demands.
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts and consistently work up to six days per week.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when performing material handling tasks.
  • Comfort working with repetitive tasks such as loading, unloading, trimming, and inspection in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic manufacturing experience, including exposure to production, inspection, loading, trimming, unloading, and assembly.
  • Ability to follow directions from line leaders and experienced production employees and learn quickly on the job.
  • Eligibility to work in a manufacturing environment as an adult (minimum age requirement of 18).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with inspection and quality-focused tasks on a production line.
  • Comfort working in a metrics-driven environment where production numbers and efficiencies are tracked closely.
  • Interest in long-term growth into roles such as quality inspector, line leader, or shipping and materials.
  • Openness to structured training programs, including leadership development for future advancement.
Why Work Here?

This employer offers a highly stable manufacturing environment with a strong track record of growth and long-term contracts that have created hundreds of local jobs. The organization emphasizes internal promotion, regularly advancing production employees into roles such as quality inspectors, line leaders, and shipping and materials positions without requiring a set tenure. A dedicated leadership academy supports ongoing development for line leaders and future supervisors, reflecting a clear commitment to career progression. Recent rebranding efforts and a new leadership team focus on improving retention and employee satisfaction, creating a workplace where reliable, high-performing employees have meaningful opportunities to build a long-term career.

Work Environment

The facility manufactures carpeted products for the automotive industry, including components installed in trunks, headliners, under hoods, and on vehicle floorboards. These products incorporate soundproof, weather-resistant, and waterproof backing materials. The operation includes multiple plants, with one site housing 8–10 stamping cells and at least four presses per cell, all running in a high-production, metrics-driven environment where numbers and efficiencies are closely monitored. There are approximately 70 production employees per shift, and three facilities of similar size in the same area. Each line has a line leader who participates in a weekly leadership academy and is being groomed for advancement into roles such as production supervisor. The plant can be loud depending on the area, and employees spend most of their shift standing at a press with a material cart, loading and unloading parts, inspecting components, and trimming as needed. Carpet assemblies typically weigh 10–15 pounds, but material handling tasks may require lifting up to 50 pounds. The company operates three primary shifts—1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.—with current needs focused on 2nd shift and a strong expectation of 10-hour workdays and frequent six-day workweeks. New hires complete a two-week training period at a reduced pay rate, followed by full pay starting in the third week. On day one, employees are paired with a line leader and a top-producing production employee, and most jobs can be learned in about one day, with the expectation that new employees will learn 2–3 different positions in their first week. Dress and personal protective equipment are consistent with a manufacturing plant environment and are focused on safety and practicality around presses and material handling equipment.
